I cooked this in the crock pot all day (8 hours - 6 lbs) after marinating information technology for v days. WOW! Fantabulous falvor! I have made this in the past and it turned out tough - the crockpot is the fashion to become! Fabricated the gravy with Nabisco Ginger Snaps - A existent hitting at our German themed dinner party. I besides served spatsel, ruby cabbage, mashed potatoes and sourdough rolls with Lingonberry jam. Excellent!

My husband bemoaned the endmost of his favorite High german eating house so it was time to hit Allrecipes and endeavour to make it myself. Thank you then much Chris for submitting your grandmother'south recipe. This was surprisingly easy to make. Practise brand sure to get roast whose sell by date includes the marinating days, the cooking twenty-four hours, and an extra twenty-four hour period if you'll accept enough for leftovers. Husband took a hammer to the ginger snaps in a plastic purse to get them finely crushed every bit I didn't want to use the food processor; he seemed to enjoy contributing to the cause. The ginger snaps are essential to the season and quickly thickened the gravy; my inner kid enjoyed that part though I must acknowledge I'g easily tickled. Make sure to remove the solids first as directed. The meat was wonderfully flavored, tender and delightfully falling autonomously. The gravy was then delicious I used an almost sinful corporeality and was tempted to lick the plate. This was fabulous! Five stars don't do it justice. Husband was thrilled it turned out then well and emphatic that it was better than the German restaurant's. We will definitely be making this again. By the way, serving with German Red Cabbage, likewise on this site, was a must take combination. Not wanting to tackle likewise much, I wimped out on the potato dumplings and just served with bones scratch fabricated mashed potatoes. Now that I know this is so easy, maybe next time I'll take on the potato dumplings.

This was my first endeavor at making sauerbraten and information technology turned out delicious! The flavor was mouthwatering and the gingersnaps fabricated all the departure with the flavor. A very overnice rest... Information technology was extremely tender, but I wonder if I should piece the meat into serving portions before marinating in the spices? Information technology just cruel apart when it was fourth dimension to serve, information technology was and then tender! YUM. Total comfort food. :)

Delicious recipe as written. My Oma's recipe, had the following tiny differences. Marinade: sliced onions, not chopped. She added a crushed clove of garlic, an extra ½ cup of both water & vinegar, used freshly croaky black PEPPERCORNS and added ½ teaspoon WHOLE allspice with the whole cloves and bay leaves. She always said: Go on things large, so straining them out is easier. Oma used a covered crock & a plate to marinate the meat in the ice box (I use a gigantic plastic purse in the fridge, today.) She started sauerbraten marinating on a Monday... made an excellent Dominicus dinner with crimson cabbage, potato dumplings & apple strudel.

This is ane fantastic recipe for sauerbraten. I made the sauerbraten twice within a menstruum of two (2) weeks. I'yard prepare to make another batch. The family loves it! The but changes I fabricated were: (1) added virtually a teaspoon of granulated garlic to the marinate; (2) used chuck roast rather than rump roast due to a toll savings of $1 per pound; (3) strained the solids from the marinate before cooking the beefiness; (four) "finely chopped" the ginger snap cookies in a nutrient processor, rather than "crumble"; (v) whisked the finely chopped ginger snap cookies in enough water to make a smooth consistency (similar mayonnaise); so, added to the marinate when making the gravy; (6) added a few splashes of apple tree cider vinegar, as necessary, to accept plenty of gravy. I served the sauerbraten on a bed of spaetzle egg noodles, with ii (2) sides: homemade German/Polish potato pancakes; applesauce. As a side note: Before eating the second batch, my married woman and I intentionally stopped at a eating place that is known for its sauerbraten. Although it was very-very good, the sauerbraten recipe herein is every bit proficient or better.

Chris Simpler this recipe was so tasty succulent!! I followed the recipe to a T but marinated for 5 days & used a crockpot on low for six hours for 3lbs of roast & oh goodness was information technology succulent, I can't await to brand it again. This was the get-go time I attempted it for my hubby who loves sauerbraten & he thought it was ameliorate than his mothers (WIN!!) I made the sauerbraten forth with Kartoffel Kloesse Potato Dumplings http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Kartoffel-Kloesse-Spud-Dumplings & Grandma Jeanette'southward Amazing German Cerise Cabbage http://http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Grandma-Jeanettes-Amazing-German language-Cerise-Cabbage [which are also both five star recipes] they all complimented each other information technology was an amazing repast!!

Memories! Vielen Dank!
ten/14/2012
This takes some advance planning but is So worth the effort! I browned mine and then cooked it in a crock pot....yum! And so the 24-hour interval of the repast really did not have a lot of time or try, and it fabricated a wonderful family repast! We have a traditional German language restaurant close by - and this is fifty-fifty better than theirs! Will be making this one again and again.

This was our outset experience with sauerbraten. The flavours were good but I had a couple of issues. Start of all information technology came out soooo dry out. The gravy helped but I don't think gravy should be a rescue. The gingersnaps are supposed to exist crumbled. I would say they need to be crushed into breadstuff crumb consistancy. I had some crumbles that were a little too large and information technology fabricated my gravy lumpy. I had to strain it. It also didn't thicken as I thought it should so I had to add more. I may try this again simply try to figure out how to make the meat more tender. Glad we tried it. My apologies for not loving information technology. Maybe side by side time. Thank you Chris.

This was very good in spite of the problems I had with information technology. I followed it exactly. After ii hours of cooking on depression on the stove, I smelled it burning and was shocked that virtually of the liquid was gone. I added some water. When I made the gravy, I am not sure I had plenty liquid because the gravy was way too thick afterward a few minutes on the stove. I had to strain information technology and then add h2o. I was worried it had all been ruined, but it tasted expert. I would like to endeavor this once again, but I would like to try cooking information technology in the oven or in the crockpot. ***i tried it with the boring cooker, and information technology was great. Afterward it cooked for nigh 7 hours on low, I strained the liquid and put it in a pot on the stove. I finished making the gravy on the stovetop. If in that location were clumps from the ginger snaps, I squished them with the back of a spoon.
12/20/2016
Wow - Fabricated per recipe except I used the crockpot as some suggested. I used a rump roast (on sale), browned on all sides so cooked on low for four hours. I did pulverize the gingersnaps in a plastic bag and the gravy came together rapidly - polish and creamy. I served with red cabbage and green beans almondine. Adjacent fourth dimension I will cut in half the pepper (just for my personal taste). I love anything with a vinegar type marinade as it is so flavorful. I marinaded for iii-days just in a plastic bag. Thanks Chris for sharing a cracking recipe!!
12/27/2013
I was nervous to make this my Oma always was non okay with the sauerbraten recipes that include the gingersnaps. Merely information technology was great!!!! Everyone loved information technology. My fussy uncle said it needed raisins, so maybe I volition add those next time. I served with noodles. Oh and I used the crock pot.

My whole family came over for German night terminal night . I made this version of the sauerbraten for a modify. ( have an old recipe from Germany from the seventy'south when nosotros lived at that place.) I take to say this was a REALLY BIG HIT! All of my kids have lived in Germany and really enjoy German language food. They raved about the dish. I marinated it for 5 days. I did dark-brown information technology in a skillet but then used the marinade to deglaze the pan, did non want to lose whatever of the goodness. I did utilize the crock pot since I had to make Brotchen and Black Forest cake also. Turned out tender and very tasty. The Gingersnaps have to be very fine before adding to the gravy and the longer y'all melt the gravy the better to become a very flavorful and smooth alloy. Thank you Chris for this delightful and easy recipe!!
10/04/2015
I will definitely make this over again. I but marinated information technology for 2 days but it turned our very flavorful. When adding the crushed gingersnaps to the strained broth I really didnt remember it would turn into gravy simply it was deep night brown and very smooth. Yummy comfort meal with mashed potatoes and cerise cabbage.
03/08/2014
I have never had sauerbraten before but figured it was would be something new to make and try. I consumed a massive serving of this dish and was incredibly total just the astonishing season had me grabbing another serving of it and I am already thawing out some other roast to make some more than. 10/ten would swallow until overly full until stomache ache levels again!
12/24/2012
My boyfriend and I recently hosted a German themed Christmas party. We made this in a crock pot and used flour to thicken the gravy instead of ginger snaps. Information technology was a tremendous success!
11/25/2013
We loved it! My changes whew blood-red vino and balsamic vinegar, one-half and half, which is what I had on hand. Gravy thickened beautifully. Served with ruddy cabbage and steamed apples. Will freeze leftovers for holiday visitors. I had chuck roast but will use less fat cut as suggested next time.
09/26/2016
This came out perfect! It is such a like shooting fish in a barrel recipe to brand. The flavors are amazing.
02/03/2013
This recipe is good for my oral hygiene. I had to brush my teeth right after dinner........sorry I actually wanted information technology to be good.
06/04/2013
This was my first time using this recipe and I'g sooo glad I did. I made a red cabbage side dish with mashed potatoes and I never wanted to stop eating.
11/07/2016
Holy this freaking amazing! Seriously I have no words for how astonishing this was. Cheers so much! I studied abroad in Federal republic of germany I find this to be comfort food. Since we are finally getting some common cold and snow I idea information technology was time for a squeamish hearty meal. This was quite easy to brand. I marinated it in my crock pot equally I don't have a dutch oven big plenty. I did add some extra red wine vinegar to the marinade because I love it. Then I browned it in skillet and put it back in my crock pot for about 7 hours. Don't forget to permit it rest before you piece it. It was very tender and just made my tongue explode with flavor.
04/13/2015
I am born and raised in Germany and boooy I miss the good old German language kitchen. this did it!! I made a few lilliputian changes/adjustments such equally increased water and vinegar past a half cup each.. replaced the cookies with flour and a fiddling cold h2o.. but enough to water it down clumb free.. too added about a one-half a cup red wine.. wow this was soooo delicious and loved past wife and picky kids ;)
01/24/2013
TABIJO just cut downwards on the corporeality of black pepper you use. I think 1Tbsp. is too much. I would give it another endeavor if I were you using much less pepper. Otherwise this is a not bad recipe.
xi/06/2016
I made this for a dinner party and it was absolutely delicious. Nigh everyone that attended asked for the recipe. The simply changes I made was to substitute Chicken Goop for the water and cook the meat and marinade on low in a crock pot for a footling over six hours.
02/05/2017
Thank yous for sharing your grandmother's recipe. My grandmother was born in Frg and she fabricated this on special occasions. It was a family favorite! I wish I had her recipe. Every fourth dimension I crave sauerbraten I'd have to become to my favorite German language restaurant. No more than! Your recipe came out perfect! The just changes I made were adding a lilliputian pickling spice and some crimson vino (I used v lbs of meat). I likewise cooked it in a deadening cooker on low for 8-9 hours. It came out but like my grandmother'southward sauerbraten - tender and tasty! Brought me back to my childhood. Danke schön!! :)
06/09/2016
Piece of cake to make and tasted proficient merely a trivial too spicy/hot for us (recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of black pepper). Will make it over again but volition but add 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Thank you for sharing!
12/28/2014
This was a total win. I used the Nabisco Gingersnaps for the gravy, and that made the meal. Accept saved this recipe and volition be making it again for sure.
xi/15/2015
I followed the recipe just finished information technology in my slow cooker, as others had done. It was wonderful!!
04/08/2015
The best. Information technology tasted but like my moms
02/12/2013
This was amazing! I've never made sauerbraten before, and so I was nervous that after waiting for v days (that's how long I marinaded information technology) I wouldn't like information technology. I shouldn't have worried. My husband and I were both impressed. Incredibly flavorful and the perfect meal on a rainy winter day. Thanks!
01/27/2013
Fantastic!!
06/21/2020
This was amazing. A terrific recipe. I have tried other Sauerbraten recipes. This is a definite keeper and will go into the "rotation" for sure.
10/24/2015
I fabricated this for Christmas dinner last year, and it was a hit with my German language all-time friend (comparable to his Female parent's he said!). I did it in a slow cooker. The gravy is succulent. I made the sauerbraten along with Potato Dumplings & Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage (both from this site). I'm making it again this year per his request. It beats any Sauerbraten I've eaten at restaurants.
04/03/2020
Everyone devoured information technology
12/14/2014
Made this sauerbraten with (gluten complimentary) spaetzle and Brussels Sprouts and aspartagus for an early Christmas. Everyone loved it!
01/21/2016
Yum. Marinated information technology for ii days, cooked it in a pressure cooker at pressure for 45 min (3# roast). Yum. Seriously....Yum.
07/29/2013
I used brown sugar instead of white and information technology was very rich and tasty.
10/08/2020
I made it for the first fourth dimension tonight. I marinated for iv days (sealed plastic purse), turning two-3 times a 24-hour interval. I did all the cooking in my cast fe chicken fryer on the stove. It turned out tender and flavorful. I was a lilliputian scared information technology would exist as well curt, just the gingersnaps gave a light sweet sense of taste. I served with spaetzle and darker beer.
xi/01/2016
I made this in a crock pot with an heart of round roast. I cooked it for v hours. It was outstanding. Even so, eye of circular is very lean. After 5 hours, it was relatively tender simply it could accept used a couple more than hours. Overall, it was succulent. My family unit loved it. One of my sons had iii helpings. This will get a regular dinner.
01/22/2013
I'm lamentable to exist the person to give this recipe less than 5 stars.... I WANTED this to be as delicious as the rest of the reviewers thought. MY sauerbraten was And then spicy-hot that it was difficult to take. Yeah, it was likewise sour, but man oh man, it was spicy also! I have NO Thought which spice made it spicy... I can only surmise that the 2 onions sitting in the vinegar emitted heat ... or maybe it was the vinegar? I have no idea simply I did have to cut the gravy with water due to the heat (which actually didn't help). We could inappreciably eat it and I've been informed by my married man that he will Non eat the leftovers. So I have half of a $xv roast sitting in my fridge which won't be eaten, apparently. Bummer. I fabricated with ruby cabbage and potato dumplings which were both delish.
10/23/2015
We loved it -- served information technology for an Oktoberfest dinner, and especially loved the gravy. First, our marinade was modified by adding a half-cup of dry out reddish wine, and we let it soak for three days. Used a dutch oven to roast information technology on the stove top and it took (for 3 lbs) at least a good three to 3.v hours, and cooked on low heat. It went directly from the refrigerator into the pan, so it might take less time if information technology sits for a fleck before any cooking is done. The 10 crushed ginger snaps were just the correct amount, and the gravy was a perfect consistency -- not to runny, not also thick. It was very flavorful, and a popular particular at our dinner.
04/16/2020
I made this for my wife who's father was German and loved sauerbraten. The marinade was spot on and was perfect. Nosotros marinated the 3.5 lb chuck roast for 2 days in a plastic pocketbook, flipping 2x a twenty-four hour period. I put it in a dull cooker on high with the marinade for six hours and the 1 hour on medium. I made the gravy in a pot, subsequently straining the solids and I substituted two tbs ginger paste and one/2C sugar for the gingersnaps and boiled information technology downwards for about 20 min. Everyone loved it and we served it with red cabbage and spatezel. Fantastic!
05/08/2020
The most flavorful beef roast I have ever done! I followed the recipe exactly. I would not alter a matter. The length of training was worth the results. Although I set the table with table knives, they were unnecessary --- fork tender!
04/25/2015
the flavor of this gravy is just beyond fantastic. it's peppery and slightly sweet. sooo good. will make this once more...and again.
02/27/2016
I take made this several times and the whole family loves it!
04/28/2018
I admittedly beloved Sauerbraten and after making this recipe, so did everyone else at the dinner. I fabricated information technology as directed in a slow cooker which worked great and made it super easy. The gravy is heaven! We served it with homemade spaetzle, roasted brussel sprouts and sauerkraut.
09/23/2019
Made this. Soooo good. Never had information technology earlier, only will be making it very frequently now. The ginger snaps added at the stop definitely make it! Not the same without the cookies. I could beverage the sauce! Give thanks yous for this like shooting fish in a barrel recipe that turns tougher cuts of beefiness into mouthwatering fork tender deliciousness!
10/09/2018
AWESOME! Ver traditional recipe. I marinade for 5 days though and cook in a slow cooker.
10/07/2019
Tender and succulent! I followed the recipe every bit written.
09/23/2017
The gravy makes this recipe. The meat turned out very tender, and the ginger snaps in the gravy are the key to five stars!!
04/28/2022
Absolutely delicious! Exactly like my mother used to brand! Tender and full of flavor!
12/26/2020
Absolutely delicious! I never made before but grew upward eating my mothers. I followed it precisely, merely added sour cream to the gravy as that is what my grandmother would have washed, and it turned out great! Everyone loved it so much. An absolute hit! I will definitely be making this again. My mother is total German and said that it tasted just like her mother's! We served it with homemade spaetzle, purple cabbage, and sautéed asparagus. I also marinated it for five days and doubled the recipe. A existent accurate winner of a recipe! Five stars.
10/nineteen/2019
Only affair I did dissimilar was to utilise Beef Stew Meat. I used a high quality Angus just chose the stew meat to blot the marinade quicker (just three days) and it came out AMAZING! The whole family and some neighbors loves it with homemade spatzel!
12/28/2018
Check your temp about two/three of the fashion through. Mine ended up over done merely still proficient. Great flavor
01/15/2017
Browned in a skillet and cooked in a covered clay pot for 5 hours at 210°. I've made this recipe before with a Dutch oven stovetop only the wearisome depression bake fabricated the meat more rich. Yummy.
02/23/2016
Not certain how this is supposed to taste but to me it was vinegar beef in cookie gravy. The tastes were and then off that nosotros threw it out that dark which was disappointing since it smelled pretty good and the cookies were tasty by themselves. I'one thousand not certain we're going to try whatsoever variation of this recipe again.
01/17/2020
i substitute & utilise the best organic ginger snaps i tin can find and fig ( chocolate-brown)saccharide . excellent. i besides apply apple cidar vinegar and cream sherry instead of red wine vinegar & ruby wine
07/27/2018
This Sauerbraten recipe is wonderful. I made it a few days ago and information technology was so worth the marination wait fourth dimension. Information technology was tender, effluvious and total of delicious season. Now I don't have to become all the way up to my favorite German language eating place in Milwaukee for bully sauerbraten. Thanks Chris!
08/nineteen/2016
I add together some dry cherry-red wine to the marinade and let information technology sit down for 3-4 nights. I apply a chuck roast and cook it for 3 hours at near. It comes out in tender slices, non stringy or dry.
12/18/2019
The roast came out very well seasoned and tender. Information technology was too tangy for my taste. I think it i had substituted beef goop for some of the wine vinegar it would have tasted less tangy.
10/28/2016
This is very much like the recipe my mother and grandmother used all though I don't recall them ever using ginger snaps. It was cornstarch, and or flour that thicken the gravy. Served with ruddy cabbage and Spetzler
09/12/2020
Smashing authentic German language flavour!
10/19/2017
This turned out amazing. I substituted balsamic vinegar for the wine vinegar because it brought a piffling sweetness to the political party. I served it with spetzle and pickled crimson cabbage with a chopped up granny smith apple and chopped onions. A nice loaf of crusty bread rounded out the meal. Everyone loved it.
01/28/2017
A fun and piece of cake dish to make. Taste the marinade to get the acidic remainder right. I'd recommend that you don't flour the meat prior to browning. By doing then, yous'll avert burning the flour. When yous go to the gravey do every bit recommended, but add cookies to taste then a slurry to thicken. I served on top of egg noodles, providing a base to concur the amazing gravey. Serve with German Red cabbage and apple sauce and your guests will be request to meet the German chef.
01/08/2019
I loved information technology. Very tasty, merely I made it with Venison!
03/13/2019
Cheers Chris Simpler! Nashville Tennessee has a lot to do but expert German food is not one of them. This was no doubt the best I've ever had. I injected a rump roast and marinated it 5 days. Thanks again!
09/21/2019
Very accurate recipe. I'm actually kind of impressed with myself lol. I used white vino vinegar considering it was all I had. I CRUMBED the cookies (I used a German brand). I had a 3lb. rump roast marinated for 4 days. I cooked it in a crock pot with all the marinade, including solids. One reviewer said they cooked it on low for 6 hours. Mine was washed in 4 and a little dry but the meat was delicious and the gravy astonishing! Definitely making this over again. I lived in Germany as a child and this brought back good memories. Thanks so much for sharing. Served it with reddish cabbage and spatezle.
12/26/2021
Very, very good! We followed the recipe as information technology was written. The only exception was adding a bit of beefiness broth during the simmering of the meat, and and so, later slicing up the meat and dissolving the ginger snaps in the gravy, we added the meat slices to information technology equally well. Let that go for about 10-15 minutes and all came out quite tasty. Had it for Christmas dinner and anybody raved most how expert it was. Will definitely make this again. Oh, yeah, accept to add that finding juniper berries was challenging.
12/27/2021
My grandma used to make Sauerbraten every year for thanksgiving. I wanted to recapture that flavour, and this did it perfectly! Tastes exactly like my childhood. I did it in my instant pot using the sauté setting commencement, so the slow cooker setting. It really was just perfect!
10/10/2020
Just like Grandma Argue use to make! I couldn't observe ginger snaps so I substituted with molasses cookies. I used a top circular roast and brined it for five days Was my first time making it but not the last, only started another one. I paired information technology with Red Cabbage from Aldis and Kartoffelkloesse (dumplings) from this site too but I cheated with them and used store bought croutons. For some reason my photo did not meet pixel restrictions and can not postal service. :(
12/25/2020
I thought information technology was besides salty and too fiery. The level of sour was about correct. I recommend not over cooking it. After reading several reviews, I left it in the crockpot for about v hours. Information technology was very tender, but also too dry. Had it not been besides dry out, I might have liked it better.
01/01/2019
Succulent ! My first time making this dish, and coming from a German family unit with both maternal and paternal Oma's who made sauerbraten, the pressure was on ! Well, we were not disappointed ! The gravy came out only as I had remembered ! The meat was a fiddling dry, but that was my fault for overclocking it, and nothing that the gravy could not set. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe !!!
01/18/2017
Excellent. Replaced cloves with garlic. It was perfect.
10/01/2018
The marinade flavored the meat beautifully, only simmering the roast on low for that length of time completely scorched the roast. I couldn't use the marinade to brand the gravy. Next fourth dimension I'll popular the roast in the crockpot and try that mode of cooking.
03/17/2018
My sauerbraten had a scrap of a potent vinegar flavor. I volition effort it once again with a little less vinegar. I used a Dutch oven on the stove acme simply many cooks had success with the crock pot. I will utilize that next fourth dimension. Disappointed it didn't gustatory modality as adept as expected, but I will attempt once more. Thanks for the recipe
01/25/2019
This was succulent, I'll be doubling the amount of marinade side by side time though. I am also going to endeavour adding some of the ingredients I've found listed in other 'authentic' recipes similar juniper berries, carrots, a leek, because I call back it tin can use more veggies too.
10/30/2019
Very shut to my families recipe we added some beef broth, red wine, juniper berries and a little lycopersicon esculentum paste. So love sauer braten for winter a true condolement food, the gravy over mashed potatoes with some sugariness and sour cabbage yummy. Cook it low and slow.
ten/eleven/2019
This was succulent I had a Octoberfest dinner party and everyone loved it I used a 5 pound rump roast and marinated fo 4 days
05/11/2016
Fabulous! ! My friend grew up in a German/immigrant family, and Sauerbraten has been a family tradition of generations. I never presumed that I could replicate his corking grandmothers, passed downwardly version, existence a closely guarded cloak-and-dagger. When I recently had almost of the ingredients dropped in my lap, I idea .. what the heck.. lets try it! He and I made it together. We followed the recipe to the tee. Well, sort of. We used Venison roast that had been languishing in the freezer. This was SPOT ON Fabulous!! The only thing that I will change side by side fourth dimension? Is triple the marinade, and then that I tin triple the gingersnap gravy. Nosotros shared with about viii people, and I'm getting RAVE reviews. Thank you lot so much, for tis recipe! Hearts delight! It'due south a "must Serve" with Jennet's German language Red Cabbage from this site!
eleven/03/2017
Fabled! My husband said this meal was comparable to any he had in Germany! I made german language potato salad (extra salary), murphy dumplings and scarlet cabbage. The gravy turned out well. Glad I pulverized the ginger snaps.
10/09/2021
Worst recipe e'er. I followed the recipe. I turned it 2x day over iii days. Cooked 4 hours. It fell autonomously merely was and so dry. And the gravy had no season. Very disappointed. What a waste of time, effort and $.
12/18/2020
Yes this is the ane! Fantabulous as written! Served it upwardly with some red cabbage, spud pancakes and carrots. Fantastic!!!!
02/10/2019
I recognized the flavors of sauerbraten, but they were subconscious under all that pepper. We couldn't fifty-fifty swallow the sauce! So disappointed. I'chiliad guessing a much shorter cooking time might help.
08/04/2017
Came out groovy served over wide egg noodles.the only affair changed was we added 2lbs of baby carrots with 1 he to become ...
01/13/2018
A lot of prep and it was proficient but not what I expected from the fact that I marinated it and turned it for 4 days.
01/31/2019
Very proficient! I marinated it for three days. Next time I would add half the pepper.
10/01/2018
With three days of preparation. Careful cooking and specific focus on the gravy, this was absolutely delicious. I served it with home-made German potato salad and sauerkraut. Conspicuously consumed with Spaten...
10/23/2019
The gravy is amazing!
02/sixteen/2019
fantastic !
04/xx/2017
made twice. family unit enjoys as is.
12/17/2016
Fantastic; very true to accurate gustatory modality. I simmered 4 hours. I put gravy in refrigerator overnight along with roast. Next day, heated up meat and dumped the fat layer on gravy. Really succulent. I had bought all the spices in a bag from a German language deli so maybe that was the primal ingredient. I serve with bootleg Rotkohl - pickled cerise cabbage and spaetzle.
eleven/06/2016
I marinated the meat for three days, and cooked it in the crock pot. Instead of using the marinade in the crock pot, I added some spices to some red wine vinegar plus beef goop. It was very tender and the gravy was good and crazy like shooting fish in a barrel! I wasn't sure about the gingersnaps only it wasn't overly sweetness and gave it a skillful season and texture.
02/01/2021
so good! entire family'south comments about the repast over and over!
10/08/2020
Meh. Seems like I accept washed something incorrect, or mediocre cut of beef, or marinated besides long (three+ days?). Should be simple. Made with red cabbage which turned out good.

Very tasty! I simply marinated the roast for four hours, because I had cut the roast into large (1/ii pound) chunks, just the season was wonderful! Having smaller pieces meant that I didn't cook it equally long. This 1'south a keeper!
